Soludo Defends Friendship with Tinubu Despite Political Differences

Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo has openly affirmed his longstanding friendship with President Bola Tinubu, despite their differing political affiliations.

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) governor made the declaration on Tuesday after meeting Tinubu, an All Progressives Congress (APC) leader, at the State House in Abuja. Soludo, a former Central Bank governor, wore a cap endorsing Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid during the visit.

“I make no apologies for this friendship,” Soludo stated.

“President Tinubu has been my friend for 22 years. I support him and commend his bold economic reforms.”

The relationship appears reciprocal: Tinubu previously endorsed Soludo’s re-election during a May visit to Anambra, praising the governor’s “progressive leadership” and infrastructure achievements.

“With him, Anambra is on the rise,” the president remarked at the time, acknowledging Soludo as a key adviser since the early days of his administration.

The public mutual support highlights political pragmatism in Nigeria’s often polarized landscape, where cross-party alliances remain influential.
