D’Tigress win fifth straight AfroBasket Final, beating Senegal

Nigeria’s senior women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, defeated Senegal to set a semi-final in the ongoing 2025 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket ball.

The Senegalese put up a hard fight, with the game ending 75–68 a victory for Nigeria.

The tension-soaked encounter saw D’Tigress start strong, taking the first quarter 22–17, and showcasing sharp offensive execution and tight defensive control.

Senegal, however, responded in the second quarter, to edge Nigeria 21–20, reducing the deficit heading into halftime.

But the third quarter proved the most challenging for the D’Tigress as the Senegalese surged ahead with a dominant 21–9 run, putting the four-time defending champions on the back foot.

But the Nigerian side mounted a remarkable comeback in the final quarter, outscoring Senegal 23–10 to seal the win and advance to the final.

With the result, Nigeria will now face the winner of the Mali Vs. Sudan semifinal clash, scheduled for later tonight, in what promises to be a thrilling AfroBasket 2025 final.
