PDP NEC meets, slates Nov. 2025 for National Elective Convention in Ibadan

The National Executive Council (NEC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has scheduled its national elective convention for November 15–16, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State. The decision was reached during a meeting held in Abuja on Thursday.

In a communiqué issued after the meeting, the party affirmed its commitment to unity and opposition leadership, vowing to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections.

The NEC directed the National Chairman, Umar Damagum, and the National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, to formally notify the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of the convention details, in compliance with electoral laws.

Additionally, the NEC approved the composition of National Convention and Zoning Committees to ensure a transparent and credible election process. The party also resolved to pursue legal action to reclaim seats of lawmakers who defected from the PDP, citing constitutional provisions that mandate the forfeiture of their positions.

The council warned members against participating in activities of other political parties, emphasizing loyalty to the PDP. It reassured aggrieved members of ongoing efforts to address their concerns while reiterating the party’s readiness to collaborate with like-minded Nigerians to “rescue the nation” from the APC’s governance.

The next NEC meeting has been scheduled for August 25, 2025.
