Tinubu Meets APC Governors in Closed-Door Talks Ahead of Crucial NEC Meeting

President Bola Tinubu convened a private meeting with governors from the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday evening at the State House in Abuja.

The high-level discussion, held at the Presidential Villa’s Conference Hall, included members of the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF), the collective body representing APC governors.

The gathering took place just hours before the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, set for Thursday, July 24, 2025, at the State House Banquet Hall.

Senator Hope Uzodimma, PGF Chairman and Governor of Imo State, was expected to lead the delegation of 23 APC governors to what insiders described as a “critical” session amid recent party developments.

Notably, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji were among the first to arrive at the venue.

Sources indicated that President Tinubu would brief the governors on key federal policies and discuss internal party matters, including the selection of a new APC National Chairman following Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje’s resignation last month. The outcome of the meeting was expected to influence major decisions at Thursday’s NEC session, where leadership and structural changes are likely to be addressed.
