A chieftain of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Buba Galadima, has dismissed speculations that the party’s former presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, will defect to either the All Progressives Congress (APC) or the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), insisting they will remain in the NNPP until the “whistle is blown for politics.”
Galadima revealed that despite intense wooing by the APC, PDP, and even opposition coalitions, Kwankwaso has chosen to remain “strategic and steadfast” in the NNPP.
Speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Friday, Galadima declared Kwankwaso as the most capable leader Nigeria needs, saying:
“Rabiu Kwankwaso is the only politician this country ought to follow. He’s strategic—while others are spending money on campaigns, people are promoting him for free, calling him capable, experienced, and the best choice for Nigeria.”
He challenged other parties to support Kwankwaso’s presidential ambition if they truly believe in his leadership, rather than trying to recruit him.
“Why don’t they back him to become president so he can deliver democracy’s dividends? Instead, the PDP, APC, and coalitions keep courting him, but he’s staying put,” Galadima stated.
The NNPP stalwart affirmed that the party remains legally recognized and will maintain its position until the political season fully kicks off.
“We’ll stay in NNPP strategically until the right time,” he said, reinforcing Kwankwaso’s stance as a leader in waiting.
