NDLEA Busts International Drug Syndicates, Seizes Cocaine Hidden in Cosmetics, Documents

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted two major cocaine shipments concealed in lipstick tubes and a Certificate of Occupancy destined for the UK and Saudi Arabia.
The seizures, made at a Lagos courier company, uncovered 420 grams of cocaine hidden in 84 lipstick tubes and another 280 grams stashed inside legal documents.
In a coordinated crackdown, NDLEA operatives dismantled a drug cartel led by notorious kingpin Ajetsibo Emami, alias “Warri Kinsman,” arresting him and three associates in Lagos. A raid on their warehouse in Ayobo yielded 414.2kg of Canadian Loud.
Another breakthrough came with the arrest of a five-member family-run syndicate in Ojo, Lagos. Businessman Ajah Johnson Uchenna, his wife Rosemary, and their daughters were nabbed with over 500kg of cannabis in two separate raids.
At Lagos’ Murtala Muhammed International Airport, a traveller, Aburemi Hysent, was caught with 7,660 tramadol pills hidden in food items en route to Italy. Separately, 52 fake travellers’ cheques worth AU$17.7 million were intercepted in children’s books bound for Malaysia, leading to the arrest of freight agent Bolarinwa Saheed.
Other seizures include:
– Seme Border, Lagos: 359kg of cannabis seized.
– Kogi: 10,000 opioid pills and 1.05kg of Colorado recovered; 3 suspects arrested.
– Osun: 62,106 opioid pills seized; 9.67 hectares of cannabis farm destroyed.
– Borno: 167kg of skunk recovered.
– Kano: 452kg of cannabis seized.
– Kaduna: 11,000 tramadol pills confiscated.
– Sokoto: 62-year-old caught with 4,800 tramadol pills.
– Kebbi: 312kg of skunk and 10,000 diazepam tablets seized.
– Taraba: 49,930 tramadol capsules recovered; two arrested.
– Edo: Wanted cannabis farmer Alaba Monday arrested with 115kg of drugs.
– Cross River: 78-year-old Mike Abeng nabbed with 14.49kg of skunk.
The NDLEA also intensified its War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) campaign, conducting sensitization programs in Enugu, Lagos, Katsina, and Borno.
NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), praised officers for their efforts and urged sustained action in combating drug trafficking and abuse nationwide.
