Senate President Godswill Akpabio has hinted at possible defections of some Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors to the All Progressives Congress (APC) soon. Speaking on Saturday at a reception for Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno, who recently joined the APC, Akpabio suggested that Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and Bayelsa State Governor Duoye Diri might follow suit.

He also praised Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his bold move to the APC, saying, *“After Governor Umo Eno, Rivers State may tumble next, followed by Bayelsa. We also won the election in Edo State.”*

Akpabio further declared that by 2027, the entire South-South region would unite behind President Bola Tinubu and the APC. “From now on, the South-South will go one way—voting for President Tinubu in 2027,”* he stated, adding that Akwa Ibom residents fully support Eno’s switch to the ruling party.

Meanwhile, APC National Secretary Ajibola Basiru has dismissed early talks about Tinubu’s 2027 running mate, stating that the party has only endorsed the president for re-election. In a Channels Television interview on Friday, he said discussions on a vice-presidential candidate would only arise after the APC’s convention, typically held a year before elections.
