Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has dismissed any potential threat to President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, insisting that a newly proposed opposition coalition stands no chance against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television on Friday, Sani downplayed the significance of the National Opposition Coalition Group (NOCG), led by former Senate President David Mark and backed by prominent figures such as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, ex-Rivers Governor Chibuike Amaechi, and former Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai.

“Asiwaju has no threat,” Sani said. “Most of those speaking today weren’t in the trenches fighting for democracy, justice, or good governance.”

His remarks came in response to El-Rufai’s recent claim that Tinubu cannot win in 2027 due to the APC’s alleged failures in governance.

Meanwhile, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, SAN, ridiculed the coalition’s attempt to register a new party, the All Democratic Alliance (ADA), describing it as a “pedestrian joke” and a failed political spectacle.

In a statement on X (formerly Twitter), Keyamo dismissed the move as overhyped, stating, “This is just a simple application for party registration, not a coalition. It’s a weak attempt at psychological warfare.” He emphasized that no major political parties were involved, contrasting it with the historic merger that formed the APC in 2013.

“After all the noise, it’s just another group seeking registration—nothing more,” Keyamo added, downplaying the coalition’s significance.

The developments highlight growing political tensions as the 2027 elections draw closer, with the APC dismissing opposition efforts while critics question Tinubu’s prospects amid Nigeria’s economic challenges.
