As Muslims across the country gather today to celebrate Eid-l-fitr, a Senatorial Aspirant in Oyo State, Prof. Adeolu Akande has urged Nigerians to imbibe the act of perseverance, charity, and personal denials amongst other lessons learned during the just completed holy Month of Ramadhan, and demonstrate same in their everyday life.

Ramadhan, he said, teaches many things, adding that “if we imbibe most of its teaching‎s, the nation would be good for it.”
According to Akande, who once chaired the board of the Nigeria Communications Commission, NCC, the people of the state should learn how to persevere and exhibit patience while awaiting positive changes from the political leadership of the country.

Just like yesterday, according to him, Ramadhan has come and gone, but the lessons taught in the form of abstinence from food, drink and other worldly pleasures represents highest demonstration of personal denials, patience and perseverance necessary in our collective quest for a better society as envisaged by the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

“No doubt, we are faced with some obvious, but temporary challenges which are not insurmountable if we apply the lessons of the just concluded Ramadhan.

“We should continue to be tolerant of our neighbours, desist from wasteful spending‎ and frivolities.

“While I urge modest celebration, let us not forget the needy within our community, as only this ensures peace and safety with our neighbours and by extension the society as a whole,” he said.
