Eid Al-Fitr to Begin on Sunday As Saudi Arabia Sights Shawwal Moon

The crescent moon marking the start of Shawwal has been sighted in Saudi Arabia on Saturday, 29 March 2025, signaling the end of Ramadan and the beginning of Eid al-Fitr.
With this confirmation, Sunday, 30 March, will officially be the first day of the festive celebrations.
Ramadan, one of the five pillars of Islam, is observed by Muslims worldwide as a sacred month of fasting, prayer, and charitable deeds. To determine key dates in the Islamic lunar calendar, Saudi Arabia relies on over 10 specialized astronomical observatories tasked with tracking the crescent moon.
The sighting of the Shawwal moon brings Ramadan to a close and ushers in Eid al-Fitr, a joyous occasion marked by communal prayers, feasting, and acts of gratitude.
