Couple die in Rivers from generator fumes

A couple in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, have died after inhaling generator fumes in their apartment.
An eyewitness in Port Harcourt said the incident occurred in the Township area.
According to him, due to a power outage and heavy rainfall in the night, the couple put their generator on at the passage of their apartment.
The witness said by late Saturday morning, neighbours were worried when the couple did not come out of their room.
The co-tenants, consequently, knocked on their door to ascertain their wellbeing.
The witness said with no response, the co-tenants broke into the apartment and “they discovered the lifeless bodies of the couple.”
“Subsequently, the incident was reported to the Central Police Station in Port Harcourt Township,” he said.
The state police spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed that the couple died from carbon monoxide inhalation, adding that their corpses had been deposited at the morgue.
