Military Arrestef 59 Oil Thieves, Rescued 249 Kidnapped Victims in January Alone – DHQ
Troops neutralized 358 terrorists and 431 suspected terrorists arrested in January 2025 alone.
The Defence Headquarters, DHQ, also said 59 oil thieves were held and 249 kidnapped hostages rescued, showing the military’s commitment to securing the nation.
Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, stated this in Abuja.
He said troops also recovered 370 weapons and 4,972 ammunition, including AK47 rifles, locally fabricated guns, and assorted arms.
According to him, “In the South-South region, troops denied oil thieves the estimated sum of over N2.6 billion. The breakdown includes 2,732,038 litres of stolen crude oil, 42,515 litres of illegally refined AGO, and other items.”
He assured that the military’s efforts have created conditions that assure the safety and security of citizens.
