Police Arrest Terror Suspects, Recover Explosives in Kano

The Kano State Police Command said it arrested three suspected associates of a wanted foreign terrorist in a major security crackdown.

The State Police Commissioner, CP Salman Dogo Garba, who revealed this in Kano, said the success of the operation followed intelligence reports of planned terrorist activities in the state.

The Commissioner of Police said among the arrested suspects is the wife of the fugitive suspect, Ahmad Adam Abba, a Chadian national accused of orchestrating the killing of 17 people in Chad and attempting to establish a terrorist base in Kano. Other suspects include another Chadian, Jibrin Mohammed, 42, and a Nigerian accomplice.

According to the Police Commissioner, the main suspect fled Nigeria before he could be captured, but efforts are ongoing to track his movements.

Also, during the crackdown, the police also recovered Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), which were seized before they could be deployed.

Investigations are also.ongoing to determine the full extent of the suspects’ network and any potential collaborators.

CP Garba, however, assured residents that the command is working tirelessly to neutralize security threats in the state.

He said, “We have ramped up our intelligence-gathering efforts and intensified patrols in key areas. Our collaboration with intelligence agencies and local communities is crucial in identifying and preventing criminal activities.”

The police urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to authorities, reassuring Nigerians of their commitment to maintaining peace and security in Kano.
