Friday, Jan 31 is 1st Of Sha’ban – Sultan
Today, Friday, January 31, 2025, has been declared by the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, as the first day of Sha’aban 1446AH in the Islamic calendar.
A statement by the chairman Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs, Sultanate Council Sokoto, Prof. Sambo Wali Junaidu, stated that the Committee together with the National Moon sighting Committee across the country, did not receive information confirming the sighting of the new crescent of Sha’aban on Wednesday, the 29th of Rajab, 1446AH, equivalent to 29th of January 2025.
The statement further stated that Thursday the thirtieth of January is the ending of Rajab 1446AH and today shall be the 1st of Sha’aban accordingly.
Professor Junaidu said the Monthly Observation of the moon, clarifies the Islamic Calendar within a given year, thereby making the month of Ramadan moon sightings more acceptable to the general Muslims in the Country
