The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Olayemi Cardoso, has been hailed for introducing the Non-Resident Nigerian Ordinary Account (NRNOA) and the Non-Resident Nigerian Investment Account (NRNIA) for the benefit of Nigerians in the Disapora.

The Chairman/CEO, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, spoke in a statement signed by the Commission’s Head, Media, Public Relations and Protocols, Abdur-Rahman Balogun.

Dabiri-Erewa said the move remains a strategic initiative to enhance diaspora engagement and bolster Nigeria’s economic growth.

According to the NiDCOM boss, Nigerians in the diaspora would leverage these new financial packages, highlighting the pivotal role of diaspora remittances.

She said disapora remittances are the highest source of foreign exchange to Nigeria, which surpasses oil revenues.

Dabiri-Erewa said it is strategically important to engage with the diaspora community, adding that, “Nigerians, home and abroad, must join hands to develop Nigeria, as no foreigner will do this for us.”
