Leaders, Organizations Congratulate Senator Azuta-Mbata on Election as President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 election, Atiku Abubakar, Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, South-east senators, Northern Christian Youth Professionals, and the Chief of Staff to Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State, Dr. Ehie Edison, have extended their congratulations to Senator John Azuta-Mbata following his election as President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide.

Former Senate President, Senator Adolphus Wabara, has also praised Azuta-Mbata for his leadership. Azuta-Mbata, who represented Rivers East Senatorial District from 1999 to 2007, was elected during a peaceful election in Enugu on Friday to lead the apex Igbo socio-cultural organization.

In a statement by his Media Adviser, Paul Ibe, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar also congratulated other members of the new executive and encouraged the Mbata-led team to unite Ndigbo and collaborate with other socio-cultural organizations to foster national unity.

Governor Peter Mbah similarly congratulated the new leadership, emphasizing that Ndigbo are stronger together. He referred to the election as a collective victory for Ndigbo globally and reminded the new leadership of the high expectations placed upon them due to their esteemed backgrounds.

The South-east Senate Caucus, led by Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, also lauded Azuta-Mbata’s victory as a significant milestone for Ohanaeze. Abaribe expressed confidence that under Mbata’s leadership, the organization would unite the Igbo people and promote peace and harmony both within Igboland and beyond.

Dr. Ehie Edison, the Chief of Staff to Governor Fubara, described the election as a moment of pride for Ndi-Igbo and expressed hope that Azuta-Mbata’s leadership would strengthen unity, progress, and cultural preservation. Edison reflected on the contributions of past leaders from Rivers State to the development of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.

Former Senate President Wabara commended Rivers State for presenting a capable leader in Azuta-Mbata, highlighting his impressive background and entrepreneurial success.

The Northern Christian Youth Professionals also sent their congratulations, recognizing Azuta-Mbata’s leadership potential to advance both the Igbo nation and Nigeria’s economic growth. They expressed confidence that under his guidance, the legacy of Ndigbo’s contributions to Nigeria’s economy will continue to thrive.
