FG Pledges Launch of National Air Carrier Soon, Revamp of Airports
The Federal Government has assured Nigerians that a new national air carrier will soon commence operations.
This was disclosed by Abubakar Kana, the newly appointed Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, during a handover ceremony.
Kana emphasized his commitment to establishing the national carrier and upgrading airports nationwide in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda for the aviation sector. He expressed support for Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo in achieving these goals, noting the need for private sector collaboration to bolster resources for the industry.
Outgoing Permanent Secretary Dr. Emmanuel Meribole thanked the ministry for the opportunity to serve, urging continued collaboration to advance the aviation sector.
Described by colleagues as a man of integrity and competence, Dr. Meribole stated his efforts aimed to leave the ministry better than he found it.
Kana, praised for his leadership in previous roles, appealed to the ministry’s agencies to embrace the Renewed Hope Agenda, promising to prioritize staff welfare and talent development.
The event concluded with the signing and handover of strategic documents to the new Permanent Secretary.
This renewed commitment comes amid controversies surrounding the Nigeria Air project.
