President Tinubu, right, exchange pleasantries with Atiku

Tinubu, Atiku in face-to-face meeting after 20 months, rare moment of national unity

President Bola Tinubu and his main political challenger during the 2023 presidential election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, met at the National Mosque in Abuja, on Friday.

The face-to-face meeting of the president and Atiku, his political, is the first time in about 20 months since after the 2023 elections.

President Tinubu and Atiku had attended the Juma’at congressional prayer and as well the wedding fatiha of a daughter of former Gombe State governor and Senator representing Gombe Central, Danjuma Goje, at the National Mosque.

Indeed, the meeting brought the two politicians, who were once once political allies, in close proximity, in contrast to the prolonged legal and political battles following the 2023 polls.

Their appearance and exchange of pleasantries showed a rare moment of unity as both leaders attended the wedding fatiha of Senator Goje’s daughter.

Nigerians are quick to note that while the encounter may have been coincidental, it holds symbolic significance given the history and the recent legal disputes between them.
