Breaking: Fubara avoids time wasting, swears in new LG chiefs in Rivers

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, is fast-tracking the swearing in today, Sunday, October 6, 2024, of the newly elected council chairmen.

The swearing in is slated for the Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Port Harcourt, the state capital, at 4 pm.

A statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Tammy Danagogo, dated October 6, 2024, disclosed this.

The statement stated that the newly elected chairmen, along with one guest each, are expected to be seated by 3:30 pm.

Indeed, the Chairman of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission, Justice Adolphus Enebeli (retd.), declared 22 of the 23 local givernment results of the Rivers State Local Governmemt election conducted on Saturday for the Action Peoples Party, APP.

Enebili, while declaring the results, said the announcement is suspended in Etche Local Government Area because the results collation is ongoing.

He stated that the results for Etche LGA will be declared alongside that of the 319 councillorship seats at a later date.
