Zwingina dies at 70
Senator Jonathan Zwingina is dead.
Aged 70 years, Zwingina was a former Senate Majority leader in the Upper House of the National Assembly.
A source in the family on Thursday stated that the former lawmaker died in Abuja on Wednesday during a protracted illness.
The source said, “He took ill about four days ago at his residence in Abuja and died days later.”
Zwingina, a Senator for Adamawa South Senatorial District in 1999, was re-elected in April 2003 under PDP ticket.
The former Senator, who was 70 years old, played a key role in Nigeria’s 1993 presidential election as the Director-General of the ‘Hope ’93’ campaign organization for the late Chief Moshood Abiola, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate.
