The Federal Government has denied that the CBN Governor, Yemi Cardoso, has been asked to resign.

The report had stated that President Bola Tinubu gave a directive to Cardoso before departing for China, despite efforts by influential Yoruba leaders to keep him in the position.

However, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, debunked reports indicating that Cardoso was ordered to resign.

Onanuga, who wrote via his official X handle on Tuesday, stated that the report was a “bundle of lies.”

According to him, “It’s all lies. President Tinubu has not asked Yemi Cardoso to resign.”

Cardoso, a seasoned economic and development policy advisor, was nominated by President Tinubu on September 15, 2023, and assumed office as CBN Governor on September 22, 2023.

He and his deputies were cleared by the National Assembly before they took over from acting CBN Governor, Folashodun Shonubi.
