Rio Ferdinand disagrees with how Chelsea treats Raheem Sterling

Former Manchester United defender, Rio Ferdinand, has faulted the way English Premier League (EPL) side, Chelsea, has treated winger, Raheem Sterling.
Indeed, Chelsea coach, Enzo Maresca, had told those who cared to listen that both Raheem Sterling and Ben Chilwell are out of the club’s project.
Maresca, who disclosed this in a chat with the media, said both players will find it hard to get minutes under him as a coach so they should find new clubs.
According him, “I just try to be honest… I told Raheem he’s going to struggle to get minutes with us. Chilly, he’s going to struggle here too.
“I’ve been honest with Raheem Sterling, he will have no minutes here.
“I am not saying Raheem is not a good player but I prefer different kinds of wingers. It’s simple.
“I spoke with Raheem one-on-one the day before City. I have nothing new to tell him… as I was quite clear”. “If he wants a chat again I’ll tell him what I already told him”.
Ferdinand, who expressed his views on TNT Sports (via Daily Mail) in the build-up to the Brighton vs Manchester United game, said Sterling has been treated with a lack of respect.
He said: “I think that’s one of the biggest things. I respect both ways, from the club’s point of view, but also the players.
‘“I think a lot was made of Raheem Sterling’s statement, but I think the noise is that I’m hearing that there was, there wasn’t any communication to him.
“And I think communication is probably one of the keywords as well.
“If there’s no communication from above as to what your role is going to be, given that you’ve been probably playing most parts of the preseason games and all of a sudden, on the eve of kick-off at a season, you’re not involved.
“You told your surplus to requirements, but the hierarchy isn’t communicating that, then you have to force the hand of the people in with the power to come and talk and get to the table.
“And I think that’s what Raheem Sterling said, that was the point of his statement. Because I would have done that.
“Yeah, he was criticized. I would have done that. I would have, I would have forced the hand of the owners to say, “Listen, you need to come and tell them what’s going on.”
