Tim Foote is now BlackBerry Ltd.’s new Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the company said on Monday.

This was anniunced in a press statement, which also stated that Foot will answer directly to John J. Giamatteo, the business’s CEO, who was hired in December and will succeed Steve Rai, who opted to quit the company.

Indications are that with almost ten years of experience in finance, investments, and cybersecurity, Foote is a valuable asset to BlackBerry and will be crucial to the company’s success in the future.

Two more internal promotions were also announced by BlackBerry.

A year after John Chen took over as CEO of PMC-Sierra, Mr. Rai, a former corporate controller, joined BlackBerry in the same role in 2014.

BlackBerry was struggling at the time with the fast-declining smartphone market.

It quickly started to change, becoming a pure software company that focuses on mobile device management, linked cars, and cybersecurity for businesses and governments.

It was in 2019 that Mr Rai was appointed CFO.

“We are pleased to appoint Tim as our new CFO,” said Giamatteo. “Tim is a strong, respected and trusted leader within our finance organization, and he brings a wide range of experience from over two decades of senior finance roles in both public and private multinational companies.”

Since Mr. Chen’s departure, several senior executives who were closely close to him have left the company.

These individuals include Chief Marketing Officer Mark Wilson, Executive Vice President of Engineering Billy Ho, and Head of Human Resources Nita White-Ivy.

Mr. Chen previously led the California enterprise cybersecurity company Sybase, Inc.

Earlier report stated that effect from Monday, June 24, PayPal has named Srini Venkatesan, a former executive of Walmart’s U.S. Omni Platforms and Tech department, as its chief technology officer (CTO).
