Napoli Sporting Director, Mauro Molisso, admitted errors in the club’s management of Victor Osimhen, causing his hard sale and declining offers from giant clubsides.

Molisso, in a recent interview with the Italian media, said Napoli made some mistakes in Osimhen’s management which the club may regret.

He said when he joined the club last season, there was a very high offer from one of the biggest teams in Europe and Napoli could have taken the opportunity to sell Osimhen.

According to him, “We made some mistakes in Osimhen’s management. I arrived in Naples in mid-July and I knew that there had been a very high offer from one of the biggest teams in Europe. In hindsight, we are all good, but perhaps we could have sold him.”

Molisso’s comments in Sportitalia via Corriere dello Sport came days after the much-publicised move of Osimhen from Italian Serie A side Napoli to French club Paris Saint-Germain was put on stand-by according to reports.

This was revealed in a report published on X (formerly Twitter) by transfer guru Fabrizio Romano who informed that Napoli is not changing their plans on Romelu Lukaku after a three-year deal had been agreed with the player if Osimhen leaves.

Romano also disclosed that PSG won’t pay Osimhen’s hefty release clause or include Kang-in Lee in the deal as they continue to keep the Nigerian striker waiting.

‘‘Victor Osimhen still wants PSG, deal on stand-by as PSG won’t pay the clause or include Kang-in Lee in the deal… but Osimhen keeps waiting.’’ Romano wrote on his X page.
