A statement by the Director of Press and Public Relations, Omolara Esan, stated this in Abuja.

The statement stated that the celebration aligns with the United Nations General Assembly’s declaration for all member states to observe World Youth Skills Day on July 15 each year.

Esan said the annual event aims to emphasize the importance of equipping young people with the necessary skills for employment and entrepreneurship, as well as addressing challenges related to skills acquisition among the youth.

The theme for this year’s event is “Youth Skills for Peace and Development.”

According to her, the program would be hosted in collaboration with other stakeholders involved in youth employment and empowerment.

She said, “World Youth Skills Day aims to raise awareness about the crucial role of skills development in fostering peace and driving sustainable development, particularly in today’s ever-changing job market.

“This commemoration also provides an opportunity to encourage Member States of the United Nations General Assembly to prioritize and invest in youth skills development initiatives.”

She affirmed that the Federal Ministry of Youth Development is committed to leveraging this occasion to inspire positive change and advocate for sustainable policies and programs that prioritize youth skills for peace and development.

According to Esan, “All stakeholders, including government bodies, non-governmental organizations, educational institutions, and youth representatives, are expected to partake in this important annual event.”
