Ericsson is building 5G innovation in Thailand to enhance digital infrastructure in the country.

The company aimed at utilising its strong 5G infrastructure and worldwide experience to propel Thailand’s digital revolution.

In a statement, President of Ericsson Thailand, Anders Rian, confirmed this, saying the company intends to hasten Thailand’s transition to a digital economy.

The company stated that the recently completed 5G Innovation and Experience Studio in Thailand Digital Valley is key component of Ericsson’s strategy.

Indeed, the state-of-the-art 5G co-creation centre was established in partnership with the Royal Thai Government by the Digital Economy Promotion Agency (DEPA).

“5G is a platform for innovation. It enables new services for consumers, enterprises and industry.

“We remain committed to fostering partnerships and innovations to ensure that Thailand reaps the full benefits of a robust and sustainable 5G network,” Rian said.

He said despite a difficult economic outlook, spending on digital infrastructure has shown to be essential and draws in outside capital, adding that Thailand is headed towards being a digital hub.

According to him, “We hope [the 5G Innovation and Experience Studio] will encourage new, innovative use cases in Thailand, leveraging the full potential of 5G. By working together with other ecosystem players, we will drive digital transformation that will benefit the Thai people, the economy, and the country.”

The studio, equipped with Ericsson’s cutting-edge 5G sandbox network, is intended to help the company develop, test, validate, and certify novel 5G use cases in collaboration with international partners.

It features several cutting-edge applications, including 360-degree wearable CCTV cameras, automated mobile robots (AMR), and an automated production machine developed in partnership with Mitsubishi.

Earlier report stated that Hyundai Motor, and its subsidiary, Kia, had signed a deal with China’s Baidu to collaborate on the development of connected automobile technologies.
