Athletico Madrid rebuff Chelsea’s initial bid to sign Samu Omorodion rejected

Spanish football club, Athletico Madrid, have declined a move by English Premier League (EPL) side, Chelsea, to sign Samu Omorodion for €40 million.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, who revealed this in a post on his X page, stated that Chelsea want to secure the signatures of Samu Omorodion and Jhon Duran from Aston Villa.

According to Romano’s post, also shared on the social media platform, Chelsea FC will try to explore chances to negotiate for Omorodion after Atlético rejected €40 million initial package.

He wrote: ‘‘Chelsea keeps working on both Samu Omorodion and Jhon Durán deals but will only bring in one striker.

‘‘Chelsea will try to explore chances to negotiate for Omorodion after Atléti rejected €40m package.

‘‘Only chance for Durán: players to be included in deal with Villa.’’ Romano wrote on X.”

Napoli FC had wanted Omorodion to replace Victor Osimhen, who is set to leave at the end of the season.

Atletico Madrid has a contract with the Spain U21 international which runs until June 2028. Even though he has a long-term contract, moving to Napoli is a possibility because of the chance to get more playing time and a significant role.
