Italian professional football manager Maurizio Sarri regrets leaving Chelsea whe he did, saying the decision was his biggest mistake.
Sarri, who spoke with Sky Sport, said he had good reasons to stay at the London club, stressing that there was a good foundation for him to continue as the coach of the club.
He said he made a big mistake when he decided to leave, especially after guiding Chelsea to win the Europa League, everything was going well with the project at the club.
He said he made the decision to leavr because he wanted to return to Italy, which turned out to be an unfortunate decision.
“Leaving Chelsea has been my biggest mistake. There was a good basis to stay there and continue at the club, I did a big mistake in that moment.
“We won the Europa League, the project was great but I wanted to return in Italy, unfortunately,” Sarri told Sky Sport.
Sari, who became the oldest manager to ever win the Serie A in 2019 while coaching Juventus, also said, “I had contact with Sevilla but our plans were different, so talks have collapsed.
“I want to return as soon as possible. It’s difficult now, I only have solutions from abroad but it’s difficult for me to accept that”.
