Troost-Ekong restates importance of Super Eagles getting results against South Africa, Benin Republic

The Skipper of the Super Eagles, William Troost-Ekong, said Nigeria must defeat South Africa and Benin Republic to kerp the hope of their participation in the 2036 World Cup alive.
Troost-Ekong, eho plays centre-back for Super League Greece club PAOK, spoke with Arise TV, stressing the importance of the two matches to the Super Eagles in order to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.
According to him, “Very important game. We all know we want to be in the 2026 World Cup.”
Troost-Ekong, born in the Netherlands into a mixed Dutch and Nigerian family, was eligible for both the Netherlands and Nigeria.
Ekong, who made his debut for Nigeria in 2015, has since earned more than 70 caps. He also talked about his return to training after undergoing surgery in February for an injury.
“I’m back fit now since two weeks but just missing some match fitness. I have personally been working on trying to get fit to give the coach the possibility to have me there,” he added.
