Killings: Senator Plang assures Plateau residents of swift intervention

The troubled local governments in Plateau State where over 150 residents died in attacks on Christmas eve have been assured of government support and intervention.

Senator Diket Satso Plang, representing Plateau Central Senatorial District and serving as the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Employment and Productivity, gave the assurance during a visit to the troubled zones of Bokkos and Mangu local government areas.

Senator Plang, who was on assessment tour of troubled area for firsthand report, emphasized the urgent need for a unified effort from governments at all levels to combat the prevailing unrest in these areas.

He said the collaboration and synchronization among authorities were necessary to address the issues causing unrest in the areas effectively.

He expressed his commitment to aiding those affected, assuring the communities of swift government intervention.

He called on the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to promptly attend to the needs of the victims by providing essential assistance and addressing their basic requirements.

Meanwhile, NEMA, represented by Mr. Bashir Idris Garga, assured Senator Plang of their immediate action. They pledged to respond promptly, addressing the critical needs of the affected populace and ensuring essential supplies and assistance are provided without delay.

He wrote on X: ”Earlier, I visited the troubled and affected areas of Bokkos and Mangu LGAs respectively to take a physical assessment of the situation at hand.

”I called on the government at all levels to be on the same page so as to fight the menace that has engulfed the unrest areas.

”I also assured the people of the affected areas of government prompt intervention and response while calling on NEMA to swiftly come to the aid of the unrest victims by providing and attending to their basic needs.

”NEMA, on the other hand, through their representative, Mr Bashir Idris Garga, assured me of their prompt response and action in providing the people with their basic needs and also attending to other crucial needs.”
