American YouTuber Trevor Jacob jailed for crashing an airplane intentionally
A 30-year-old YouTuber Trevor Jacob has reportedly crashed an airplane to obtain online views on his YouTube channel. Jacob has been arrested and is to be jailed for six months.
News.ng gathered that the YouTuber jumped out of the plane with a selfie stick to video himself as he fell with a parachute, Jacob also lied to United States investigators to avoid being arrested.
The YouTuber explained that he took the video for a sponsorship deal, In early 2023 he pleaded guilty to crashing the plane in an attempt to delay a different investigation carried on him.
Californian crime prosecutors realized that he crashed the plane to get online views on YouTube and possible financial gain.
In a statement, the YouTuber said the experience was a humbling one for him, and his prosecution was the right decision.
The Californian investigators noted that what he did was evil and not acceptable.
Towards the end of 2021, Jacob went to the Santa Barbara airport in California, and attached multiple cameras on his plane, holding with him a selfie stick and a parachute.
Half an hour into his Flight Jacob crashed the plane and landed safely in a parachute, he also went to the location of the plane crash and recorded a video of the crashed plane.
After that, the YouTuber uploaded a video online on 23rd December saying he crashed his plane, with an advert for a wallet company.
Some of his video viewers said that Jacob must have planned to crash the plane since he went with a parachute and made no efforts to prevent the plane from crashing.
Californian attorneys said they believed he crashed the plane intentionally for popularity and video views.
The YouTuber reported the crash to the authorities and said he had no idea where the location of the plane was, his video got millions of views before it was deleted by YouTube.
