Gunmen abduct eight NYSC members on transit in Zamfara
Gunmen have kidnapped eight National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members in transit from Akwa Ibom State enroute Zamfara State to Sokoto State.
However, the spokesperson in Zamfara State Police Command, Yazid Abubakar, said he was going to verify the incident before confirmation.
The victims were said to have been kidnapped on Saturday, while traveling inside from Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, to Sokoto en route to Zamfara State.
They were to take part in activities in the camp to commence their mandatory national service when the bandits intercepted their vehicle.
According to reports, 11 corps members were kidnapped but three managed to escape.
Aside from the eight corps members, the driver of the bus was also abducted.
The family of one of the victims, Betty Udofia, was reached by the bandits who are demanding N4 million ransom.
