EPL: Fernandes says Man United deserve apology from referee, blames him for 2-0 loss to Tottenham
Manchester United midfielder, Bruno Fernandes, said referee John Moss is part of the reason the Red Devils lost 2-0 by Tottenham in the Premier League on Saturday.
Fernandes, the United captain, said Man United deserve an apology from Moss for failing to award Manchester United what he described as ‘a penalty’ during their defeat to Spurs.
The Red Devils suffered a 2-0 defeat to Spurs in their second game of the season.
Fernandes felt the Red Devils were denied a nailed-on penalty in the first half when an Alejandro Garnacho shot struck Cristian Romero’s arm in the box.
The video assistant referee reviewed the situation and nothing came out of it.
However, Fernandes berated both the referee and VAR for not awarding the Red Devils a penalty that would have helped turn the match around.
The referee apologised to Wolves on Monday night after they were denied a penalty at Old Trafford after Andre Onana clattered into two opponents.
Fernandes wants the same treatment from Moss that the Wolves received.
Speaking after the game on Saturday, Fernandes was asked what explanation the referee gave for not giving a penalty and he told Stadium Astro, “You’ll have to ask him. They have to start making interviews after the games so they can explain themselves.”
