Qatari billionaire Sheikh Jassim set to buy Manchester United

Sheikh Jassim is said to be on the final run of buying Manchester United before the end of 2023 following a step forward in takeover talks.

The billionaire Qatari is said to have raced ahead of Brit Sir Jim Ratcliffe after months of back-and-forth between the interested parties and the Premier League giants.

Manchester United were first put up for sale by the Glazer family last November and it is set to be a full year before any final decision is confirmed, with Sheikh Jassim part of a family who have a collective net worth estimated to be $335billion (£275bn).

Sheikh Jassim’s team are said to have been doing due diligence in recent weeks after fans feared that Ratcliffe’s bid would keep the Glazers on as minority owners.
