Inter Miami manager elated over Messi’s star performance

Inter Miami manager Gerardo “Tata” Martino is elated over the star performance of Lionel Messi during his first game for his new club, Inter Miami.

The manager expressed after the Argentine captain led the Herons to a 2-1 win against Cruz Azul on his debut.

Inter Miami faced Mexican outfit, Cruz Azul, in their first Leagues Cup group-stage game at the DRV PNK Stadium on Friday.

The Major League Soccer side went into the match on the back of a six-game winless run but got a boost with Messi’s arrival.

Apart from Messi, the club also signed the likes of Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba.

The 36-year-old Messi participated in his first training session with Inter Miami on Tuesday after being presented to the fans last weekend.

Messi came on as a second-half substitute, replacing Benjamin Cremaschi in the 54th minute, and netted a 94th-minute winner from a free-kick.

“A film that is constantly repeated, “Martino said after the game, according to Eurosport. “It is almost like he’s giving his all to write a new film.

“Obviously (some moments) have a greater or lesser degree of importance, but he is always there to write films.”
