11 DisCos applied for electricity tariff increase - NERC

Eleven electricity distribution companies have applied for tariff increments, with the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC, disclosed this in a notice on its website on Friday.

Indications are that the DisCos are taking a needed condution for a possible electricity tariff hike.

NERC, in the notice, called on stakeholders, Nigerians, to comment on the rate review applications by the DisCos.

NERC said the tariff review is coming on the heels of the need to reflect the macroeconomic parameters and other factors affecting the quality of service, operations and sustainability of DisCos.

“Accordingly, the commission hereby invites the general public for comments on the rate review applications by the distribution licensees,” it stated.
