Plateau: Govt imposes 24-hour curfew on troubled Mangu

A 24-hour curfew has been imposed on Mangu Local Government Area of the Plateau State following recent attacks that led to loss of lives and property.
The Interim Management Committee Chairman of Manhunt Local Government Area, Markus Artu, on June 19, 2023 had imposed an indefinite dusk to dawn curfew following renewed killings of persons and destruction of property in the area.
However, the Director of Press and Public Affairs for the Governor, Gyang Bere, in a statement said Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, issued the fresh curfew on the whole LGA after consulting with the State Security Council as appropriate to restore peace and order.
It stated that movements within the Local Government have been banned until further notice except for security personnel and persons on essential duties.
While assuring the people that the government is working assiduously to restore peace and security in the state, the Governor directed security agencies to ensure total enforcement of the curfew.
