Five robbery suspects arrested in Imo, weapons revovered

Five notorious armed robbery suspects have been arrested by the Imo State Police Command.
The police said the suspects were those who have masterminded various armed robbery incidents in Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State.
A statement by the state command Spokesman, Henry Okoye, in Owerri, said
the Command’s Tactical Team on June 16, 2023, at about 1630 hours, arrested five notorious armed robbery suspects.
The police also said during the investigation, the suspects volunteered statements confessing that they had masterminded various armed robbery incidents within Owerri West LGA, where two locally made pistols, rounds of live cartridges, numerous handsets, and other incriminating items were recovered after a thorough search.
Okoye gave the names of the suspects to include: David Christopher ‘m’ 19, Sheriff Abraham ‘m’ 19, Emmanuel Akala ‘m’ 27, all of Nasarawa State, Sanusi Umar ‘m’ 22 and Mohammed Ashiru 20, both of Kano State.
The police added that efforts were in top gear to arrest other members of the syndicate at large, assuring that the suspects would be arraigned in court upon completion of a discreet investigation.
The Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Ahmed Barde, assured Imolites of the command’s unwavering commitment to ensuring that all criminal-minded elements are adequately flushed out of the state and beckoned on the well-meaning residents of the state to join hands with the police and other security agencies in the onslaught against all forms of criminality in the state.
