NLC insists FG must revert to old petrol pump price
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero, has disapproved the removal of subsidy, stating the need for the NLC’s involvement in safeguarding the Nigerian workforce and presenting further solutions.
Ajaero spoke in Abuja in the meeting between the Federal Government and the NLC over fuel subsidy removal. The meeting ended without an agreement between both parties.
Ajaero emphasised that any formal engagement should revert to the previous status quo.
The NLC firmly asserted that the Federal Government failed to engage in meaningful discussions, including the provision of relief measures for the Nigerian people
As a result, the NLC rejected the revised pump template regarding the subsidy removal.
In contrast, the spokesperson to the Federal Govetnment, Dele Alake, described the meeting as highly productive and stated that negotiations would continue.
He expressed optimism that the parties involved would arrive at a satisfactory resolution during their next adjourned meeting.
Other government officials present includes the group CEO of Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited, Mele Kyari, the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele; and former Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole.
