The Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS, has advocated for dialogue with Nigerians precedent to imposition of tax to avoid taxpayer backlash.

The Executive Chairman, FIRS, Mr Muhammad Nami, spoke at the 2022 Kaduna State Tax Dialogue on Saturday.

Nami said two-sided communication between the government and the taxpayers is vital.

According to him, “Dialoguing on tax prevents destructive conflicts as no one feels cheated or unfairly treated.

“When governments do not dialogue with the people on the taxes they wish to impose, they create room for conflict and even rebuff.”
