Ogbomoso: Lawmaker pleads with Makinde to direct repairs of collapsed bridge

A member of the Oyo State House of Assembly elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Hon. Olawumi Oladeji, has asked Governor Seyi Makinde to direct agencies responsible for road maintenance in the state to repair the collapsed bridge in her constituency.
Oladeji, whi spoke on Tuesday, said this would ease the challenges her constituents currently face.
Aaduin bridge in Katangua area of Ogbomoso was said to have collapsed as a result of heavy rainfall which led to flood in some parts of the town last week.
Oladeji, who represents Ogbomoso North Constituency, however, urged Governor Makinde to mobilise all state agencies responsible for road maintenance and construction to repair the collapsed bridge.
The lawmaker pleaded with Makinde to direct the Ministry of Works and Transport towards reconstructing the bridge.
The lawmaker, who spoke on the a matter of urgent public importance at the floor of the assembly on Tuesday, said the bridge serves as the only link between Katangua and other parts of Ogbomoso.
She added that the damaged bridge has paralysed socioeconomic activities in Ogbomoso.
Oladeji said, “Rainfall this year has been unusually heavy inline with earlier predictions by weather forecasts for the year 2022. This has resulted expectedly in the collapse of some infrastructures including roads and bridges.
“As a result of the destruction of this bridge, the people of Katangua have been isolated and their socioeconomic activities practically paralysed.”
