50% fares slash: FG enlists GIG, Young Shall Grow, others as participating companies

The Federal Government has named the companies that are participating in its 50 percent transport fares slash.
in inter-state transport fares on Wednesday.
Only on Wednesday, President Bola Tinubu approved a 50 percent reduction in inter-state bus travels and free train rides for Nigerians from Thursday, December 21, 2023, to January 4, 2024.
The Federal Government’s measures to cushion the effects of hard economy was announced by Mr. Dele Alake, Minister of Solid Minerals Development.
The minister told State House correspondents at the Aso Rock Villa on Wednesday that Nigerians who want to travel can board public transportation via small buses and luxury buses at a 50% reduction off the present cost.
Consequent upon this measures, the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to the President, Bayo Onanuga, on Thursday, identified five participating transport companies in the new initiative.
According to Onanuga, the transport companies are: GIG (God is Good), Chisco, Young Shall Grow, God Bless Ezenwata, and Area Motor.
In a post on X on Thursday, he stated, “Participating companies in the FG’s plan to reduce the transport burden of traveling five million Nigerians:
1. GIG (God is Good)
2. Chisco Transport
3. Young Shall Grow
4. God bless Ezenwata.
5. Area Motor.”
The Presidency also listed 28 routes the buses will run. They include Lagos-Kano, Lagos-Abuja, Lagos-Kaduna-Zaria, Lagos-Jos, Lagos-Enugu, Lagos-Onitsha, Lagos-Owerri, Lagos-Aba, Lagos-Abakaliki, Lagos-Nsukka, Lagos-Uyo, Lagos-Port-Harcourt, Onitsha-Kano, and Onitsha-Lagos.
Others are Onitsha-Jos, Onitsha-Abuja, Onitsha-Sokoto, Onitsha-Gombe, Onitsha-Zakibiam, PH-Owerri-Aba-Kano, Aba-Owerri-Abuja, Aba-Lagos, Abuja-Sokoto, Abuja-Lagos, Abuja-Onitsha-Owerri-Port-Harcourt, Abuja-Enugu-Abakaliki, Abuja-Gombe, and Abuja-Kano.
