Rights abuses: FG summons Nigeria’s envoy in Libya

….Releases emergency phone numbers, email addresses for Nigerians in Libya

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Geoffrey Onyeama, on Sunday, summoned Nigeria’s Charge d’ Affaire (CDA) in Libya, Mr Iliya Danladi Fachano, over reports of auctioning off Nigerian migrants and kidnapping them for ransom in the country.

Mr Fachano is expected to arrive in Abuja tonight according to the Spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr Tiwatope Elias-Fatile.

He said the CDA in the Embassy of Nigeria in Tripoli was invited by the minister for consultations on the developments in Libya.

“The Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs has invited the CDA in the Embassy of Nigeria, Tripoli, Mr. Iliya Danladi Fachano, to Abuja for consultations on the developments concerning Nigerian migrants in that country.

“He is expected to arrive Abuja tonight. During the period, he will address a Press Conference on the issues,” Elias-Fatile said.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has provided emergency phone numbers and email addresses for Nigerians in Libya who may wish to contact its embassy in that country for assistance.

The Spokesperson of the ministry said the phone numbers are available 24 hours for urgent attention or support from the mission in Libya.

He is also into biography writing, with many books in his trail, some of which he wrote alone and one he co- authored with his mentor, Mr Dare Babarinsa, entitled:  Olabiyi Durojaiye - DARE TO BE DiFFERENT.
