Appeal Court nullifies Senator Adeyeye’s election

The Court of Appeal has nullified the election of Senator Dayo Adeyeye of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and ordered that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to issue a certificate of return to Senator Abiodun Olujimi of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

In the judgement of the Appeal Court in Kaduna, read by Justice Uzor Anyanwu, the judges unanimously upheld the judgement of the Election Tribunal which nullified the election of Adeyeye as Senator representing Ekiti South Senatorial District.

The tribunal had upheld the complaints of Senator Olujimi of substantial irregularities in the election held on February 23, 2019.

Adeyeye is currently the Senate’s spokesman.
